Narendra Modi congratulates both Houses of Parliament for passing Bill: Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed the passing of the 124th Constitution Amendment Bill 2019 in both houses of the Parliament as a “victory for social justice”, which will allow the youth of India a wider canvas to “showcase their prowess and contribute towards India’s transformation“.
Immediately after the Rajya Sabha cleared the historic Bill which provides for 10 percent quota for the general category poor in jobs and education, Modi took to Twitter to congratulate the Parliament for passing the historic amendment.
Terming the bill “inclusive”, the prime minister also said that by passing the constitutional amendment bill, Parliament paid tribute to the makers of the Indian Constitution and the freedom fighters who envisioned an India that is strong and inclusive.
Modi also tweeted, saying, “Passage of The Constitution (One Hundred And Twenty-Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2019 in both Houses of Parliament is a victory for social justice. It ensures a wider canvas for our Yuva Shakti to showcase their prowess and contribute towards India’s transformation.”
The Bill was moved and passed in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, and then sent to the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. Earlier, Modi termed passage of the Bill in the Lok Sabha as a historic step aimed at the welfare of the deprived sections. He also said the rights of deprived sections, including Dalits and tribals, won’t be affected because of this Bill.
